Here are some books that you might like!
Grisha Trilogy by: Leigh Bardugo
I recommend the Grisha Trilogy by: Leigh Bardugo. This series consists of the books Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, and Ruin and Rising. In Ravka, Alina Starkov was just a normal carriage drawer, until she is proven a magical person called Grisha, in the deadly Shadow Fold. She is taken to the Little Palace by the mysterious, Darkling. As the war about Ravka progresses, Alina is being trained with her great powers. As Alina’s powers become stronger, the Darkling’s grip on her also becomes stronger. Alina then learns secrets that can tear her, and her country apart.
Why I liked it
I liked this book because the whole series was very interesting. I liked this because it shows the perseverance and positive change through the characters. For example, Alina learns so much about her powers, who she really is, who she wants to become, and what she needs to do to become that person. The other characters also learn much about themselves, and the right thing to do during the war. Also, the book is so suspenseful, and the plot is very well laid out. That is why I would recommend the Grisha Series.
Three Times Lucky by: Sheila Turnage
I recommend the book Three Times Lucky by: Sheila Turnage. This a murder mystery where a girl, Mo LoBeau, and her friend, Dale Englehart, must find out who killed their hometown friend, Mr. Jesse. Mo LoBeau was found as a child on a piece of driftwood during a hurricane and was taken in by the Colonel and Miss Lana. Dale’s father has many problems which affects his whole family. Everyone in Tupelo Landing is surprised by Mr. Jesse’s sudden death with only two clues, an oar with blood on it, and a large footprint. Together Mo and Dale must find out who murdered Mr. Jesse before the murderer strikes again.
Why I liked it
I liked this book because it has so much suspense which will keep you turning the pages until you are finished. I also like the variety of characters in this book because they each have their own special personalities. For example, Mo has her opinions on certain characters and always speaks what she thinks is the truth. Dale, on the other hand, is afraid of fighting and guns and he has to help support his mother because his father won’t. Mo and Dale work together so well. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!
I recommend the book Wait Till Helen Comes by: Mary Downing Hahn. Twelve-year-old Molly and her ten-year-old brother, Michael, never liked their seven-year-old stepsister, Heather. Ever since their parents got married, she’s made Molly and Michael’s life worse and worse. Their parents have moved them all to the country to live in a house that used to be a church, with a cemetery in the backyard. Even worse, Heather starts talking to a ghost named Helen and is constantly telling Molly and Michael that Helen is going to punish them. Molly thinks Heather is in some kind of trouble, but every time she tries to help, Heather twists the situation and gets Molly in trouble. Molly and Michael think things can’t get any worse. But they do when Helen comes.
Why I Liked It
I liked this book because it will keep you up at night because it’s so bone-chilling. I also like how Hahn portrays Molly’s courage. For example, in the end when she does certain things to help Heather which later improves her whole family’s lives. I am also so impressed with Hahn’s work because she has written so many books you would think she has run out of ideas, but she hasn’t. All of her books are fresh bone-chillers. I hope you read this wonderfully scary ghost story!
I recommend the Sisters Grimm Series. Sabrina and Daphne Grimm are sisters that have been moved from crazy foster home to crazy foster home. Then, a woman who claims be their believed to be dead grandmother takes them in. She takes them to a town called Fairyport Landing where life takes a life takes a very sharp turn. Their Granny Relda is a little crazy and claims that all of the citizens are fairytale characters. Sabrina and Daphne start to get used to her, when out of nowhere she goes missing! Sabrina and Daphne must find her with the help of friends before it’s too late!
